Questions? We have Answers
We hope you find our FAQ’s helpful. We have included the questions we are most often asked.
Where are you located?
We are located in Thomson, GA which is east of Atlanta and west of Savannah.
What’s the process for you to renovate my trailer?
We no longer take commissioned renovations.
We want you to renovate a trailer for us but don’t have one yet. Can you help?
Unfortunately, at this time, we no longer assist in sourcing rigs for renovations.
I found an RV I’m interested in but think I should have it inspected first. Where can I find an inspector?
I’m so glad you are thinking about having it inspected! We recommend to anyone buying an RV that an independent inspection is critical regardless if the seller is private or a dealership. The National RV Inspectors Association can help you find an inspector in your area.
How long does it take you for you to renovate a trailer?
We are a husband and wife duo and we do it all ourselves! It usually takes us about 10-15 weeks to complete a renovation, depending on the scope of the rebuild. Most of our projects are completely gutted and rebuilt.
We’re thinking about getting a loan for our rv purchase. Is that an option?
There are some banks that offer financing for rv’s; although, resale trailers make that option a little more challenging.
Loan values are based on book values for that year and make and not on an appraisal. In other words, there is no way to add value to the rv because it has been renovated. However, all hope is not lost if you would like to get a loan. One option may be Lightstream. Click the button below for more information on their offerings.
I’m interested in one of your renovated trailers but live out of state. Do you deliver?
We do not provide delivery service for any trailer we renovate to sell.
Shipping can be arranged. One option is uShip. Click the link below to be directed to their website. Arranging shipping is the responsibility of the customer.
We have never pulled a trailer before. Do you have any tips?
Our first recommendation would be to purchase a weight distribution hitch. It is an added expense but will be an absolute game changer. We recommend the ReCurve R3.
Large empty parking lots are a great place to get some practice in before you hit the road.
Do you have any recommendations for living with a pet in an rv?
We lived full time in our travel trailer for years with our sweet boy, Woodstock. Since we both worked out of the home and lived in an area prone to power outages, we bought the temperature monitoring system, MarCELL. It alerts you immediately if there is a power outage in the trailer. Having this during the summer months, especially, brought a great sense of peace while we were away.

Do I need special light bulbs for my light fixtures?
If your lights are running on a 12v system, which is what we most commonly see, then you need to be sure that your light bulbs are also 12v. You can easily purchase them through Amazon. There are different styles. Below is a link to one option.

Why do you recommend the fresh water tanks be empty while traveling?
Water is extremely heavy and most tanks succumb to bursting under the force of the weight when en route. We always recommend that fresh water tanks not be filled when traveling. Whenever possible, dumping the black and gray water tank before traveling is preferable. The amount of damage to the underside of the trailer from a burst tank can be significant and costly.
What is the best way to maintain the slide room?
Slide rooms are very heavy and the motors used are designed for weight and not additional strain caused by resistance due to poor lubrication. We recommend that the gear and tracks be lubricated semi-annually to annually depending on use.
Varying slide mechanisms have varying maintenance recommendations.
Why do you disable the fresh water pump when you do renovate a travel trailer?
We disable the fresh water pump for our renovated resale trailers only. Not unlike city water provided to our homes, holding tanks don’t provide high quality drinking water and may breed bacteria growth that is unhealthy. Additionally, aged tanks (which is what we typically find in older trailers) may not meet current recommended health standards.
On a personal note, in the nearly three years we lived full time, we never put a drop of water in our fresh water holding tank. That included the two times we were forced to evacuate due to hurricanes. We were either connected to water or we carried drinking water with us.
Do you do Airstreams or vintage trailers?
We have previously taken on vintage projects but we no longer take such specialized projects for clients.
Why do you only renovate travel trailers?
We loved our travel trailer and its size! Many National and State Parks have restrictions on the length of trailers. We prefer to renovate trailers less than 30′ so that our customers can take advantage of some our nation’s most beautiful camping spots.
I have a motorhome. Do you renovate more than just travel trailers?
Yes, we have in the past. However, we no longer accept commissioned renovations.
We are new to the rv life. What basic things will we need to get started?
Our first suggestion is to join some rv Facebook groups where you have a community of people you can reach out to as you encounter new situations or new questions arise. You’ll find that the people in the rv community are friendly and helpful!
The most basic essentials are: a fresh water supply hose, tank drainage hose, rubber gloves, shore chord extension cable, amperage adapters, leveling blocks and a water pressure regulator.
This is not a comprehensive list.
